20 Essential Elements of a Marriage

Image
I think lists are awesome. How would I get anything done without a list? I’ve tried and I can tell you that although things still get done, it’s a whole lot harder. I forget stuff. I don’t do things in a timely manner. And worst of all, I end up feeling a lot more stressed than I would have if I had just used a darn list. I know when we think of a checklist, we tend to think of our jobs, grocery shopping, back-to-school lists, or just things we need to do in our day-to-day lives, but what about a checklist for our marriage? That’s right; what if there was a checklist to guide us through our union? We could use it to make sure we weren’t forgetting anything important, or to make sure we are on track and tending to the things that matter most. Listen, I know that having a successful marriage requires a lot more than a simple checklist. However, I also know that a solid checklist definitely never caused any harm, so ...

Youth and Sex - How to Build Your Morals and Values

Image
Mary was in love. He was sweet, fun to be around and so cute! One Saturday afternoon, while both parents were away they relaxed in Mary’s bedroom watching TV. Soon, the television was forgotten as they found themselves locked in a passionate embrace. It seemed only natural to express their love in a physical way. The parents returned home discovering them both in bed. After the boyfriend left, the heated argument began. “What’s the big deal?” asked Mary. “I really love him! Everyone else is doing it!” The parents honestly didn’t know how to argue with her except to say that it was wrong. What would you say? How do we help our youth grow up with morals and values? John and a friend discovered it on Dad’s computer through his Internet connection: pornography. The perversions that once were available only in seedy bookstores could now be accessed for free over the World Wide Web. Every day after ...

21 Questions to Ask before Marriage... By Pastor Bimbo Rosemary Odukoya

Learning how to live a maximized singlehood and to build a relationship that will culminate to a healthy marriage that is heaven on earth from a biblical practical approach. The Bible says that, “a man who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favour from the Lord.” Proverbs 18:22.  But we must understand that the finding is a process and it is a serious task. This process involves seeking and elimination. It takes time and energy. Ignorance of what this process involves is what makes many singles sad and discouraged or rush into mis-matched marriages. The truth is, finding just any type of life partner is easy; you can pick anyone off the street and go to the altar with him/her. But the heart-breaks and rejections from failed relationships are not easy at all. If you must find that one who would do you good, that one who is tailor- made by God to fit you, then you must invest time, ...

10 TYPES OF WOMAN U SHOULD NEVER THINK OF MARRYING!

Image
1. The Bitter Woman: You know that woman that always seems to be angry at the menfolk all the time? Perhaps she has had her heart broken one too many times, but this woman is always bashing on men and talking about how they are no-good or useless. A man might not want to settle down with someone so bitter as it is guaranteed that when the opportunity arises, she would hurl hurtful insults and intense, hateful words his way due to all her unresolved anger. 2. The Selfish Woman: If you want a happy home and a partner that wants your happiness as well as hers, then you should steer clear of the selfish woman. A woman who is determined to make sure she always comes first would not be able to build a cheerful and loving home with you. 3. The Materialistic Woman : A woman obsessed with material things would certainly not make the best wife. If all she cares about are material possession over family, faith and spiritual fulfillment, then she will not make the best partner. ...

Choosing a Life Partner - the Christian Checklist...

Image
The biggest decision you'll make outside of choosing to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. I've met with scores of couples for premarital counseling through the years. And one of the first points I try to get across to them is that "desire" does not equal love. Desire may be illustrated by a young person who tells you they can't live without you, that they're miserable, and that life seems colorless and empty when you're not around. That may be a form of love, but it's not the sort of love that will hold a marriage together through the years. While they may feel they "need" you today, it's possible that five months from now you'll no longer meet their "need," and they'll find that they "need" someone else. What I tell these young couples is that love is based on commitment, and that everything you do is to fulfill, satisfy, and serve the one you love. Real love doesn't enter a relationship with an ex...

Dear Future Husband… A Christian teen girl shares some honest truths with the boy pursuing her.

Image
Dear Future Husband, I’m sorry in advance, but it would be really hard to make me say “yes” to you based only on your outward appearance ... because I probably won’t believe you. I won’t believe we're right together because of any sweet words you’ll say. I won’t believe we're a perfect match because of chocolates, flowers or any gifts you’ll give I won’t believe we're "meant to be", based on your talents, money, fame, appearance or intelligence. I won’t believe you're good for me, even if you go to church every day and claim to be a Christian.  Prove to me that you’re a man of God. You know how? Well, you don’t need to show me anything, you don’t even need to pursue me, PURSUE GOD. Pursue my creator, protector and father. Love Him more than anything else, and at the right time, ask Him for my hand. You know, you don’t need to search for anything that would make me happy. After all, I’m not that girl that dwells on happiness anymore. I ...
