God Kind of Love by Solomon Exousia
I am thankful for the grace given me to write you on this inexhaustible subject. I will write a 'modest' epistle and trust God that it would bring forth a good harvest of peace and joy. One truth the Lord wants us to have is that God is love and he loves us. Jesus said, 'for God so loved the world that he gave his only Son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.' John 3:16. God's kind of love gives eternal life to those who receive him. God's love makes man to come up to his kind of living and dominion. David said concerning this, 'What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet.' Psalm 8:4-6. This is what the love of God does to anyone who is in God. It makes them rulers over the works of the Lord's hands- a people crowned with honor and glory.
One evidence that God loves you is that he sets his glory on you. Another evidence is that he makes you to reign in life. In times past, few people knew about the love of God. So many were very limited in life and were held in bondage by fear and sin. These people would resort to boasting in their wisdom, strength and riches. But how limited these things are! The wisdom of the world could not tell who God really is. The strength of men could not deliver them from sin and the devil. Their wealth could not redeem them from corruption. 1 Corinthians 1:21-25, 1 Peter 1:18. King Solomon considered all these things and he said by the wisdom God gave him, 'these things are vanity on vanity.' But when the person of God's love appeared, the man Christ Jesus, the revelation of God's love came to light. Amen. And one of the most astounding and powerful statements Jesus made is, 'God so loved the world...' That means to me that the world ought not to be in bondage. The world ought to be at liberty, and at peace, ruling over the works of God's hands and full of glory. Since God so loved the world, we should not be subject to sin and death. We should not be subject to sickness. We should not be under any curse. The only person we should be under is God himself. That Psalm 8:5 says, 'you have made him a little lower than the angels'. The margin reads, 'a little lower than God.' I believe that's the more accurate translation. Why? It is written, 'the head of every man is Christ, and the head of Christ is God.' 1 Corinthians 11:3. And we know that Christ is God. Titus 2:13, Isaiah 9:6. Amen.
The man God loves should be under God. If he is under anything else, that is a demotion and dishonor. So when God sent his son out his love for the world, he wanted to save us from the low position of dishonor and demotion under sin. He wanted to set us free from sin, the fear of death and from the devil. Colossians 1:12-14. And Jesus came demonstrating God's sincere love for us. He healed the sick. He forgave people their sins. He cast out devils. He gave people joy. What was he doing? He was proving the love of God for the world. I remember king Xerxes asking Haman, "what should be done for the man the king delights to honor?' And Haman gave such a good answer. He said, 'let that man put on a royal robe the king himself has worn. Let it also have a royal crest. Then let a prince of the King lead this man on a horse to proclaim his praise in town.' Esther 6:6-10. Glory to God. He loves me. He loves you. And his love is delighted to set God's own glory on us. Therefore we read that through Jesus, we are brought as sons into the glory of God. We also see Jesus saying, 'I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one.' John 17:22.
Unbelievers are missing out on something, aren't they? Because this thing should be for all of us without exception. God doesn't love one above the other. He is the same in grace towards all. Scriptures say, 'the grace of God has appeared to all men...' He leaves none out. He said, 'Go into all the world, proclaiming this good news of God's love to every nation and whoever believes shall be saved.' God is not disqualifying anyone from receiving his glory today. Rather through ignorance and pride, some count themselves not worthy. Acts 13:46. I really congratulate you for believing in Jesus. You are the blessed of God and highly favored by him. Oh, that we may see what God has set on us just for believing in his love. Even while we were yet sinners, he caused Jesus to die for us. Imagine what he would do when we receive this act of his love! For herein we know what love is: Christ Jesus gave his life for us. 1 John 3:16. Not because of anything good we had done but of his great love for us. Ephesians 2:4-6. You know what? This love of God now sets us on his throne of authority in Christ Jesus, at his right hand. This love of God makes it our right to be filled with the Holy Spirit. John 1:12. This love has so transformed us that now we are born of God and whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world.
No wonder Paul said, 'we are more than conquerors.' God has brought us into an era of his love. And that's good. Because now our faith can really work. For faith works by love. Galatians 5:6. God says, 'I love you. Only believe it.' God is being very deliberate about his love towards us. He knows our frame. He knows our limitations. He knows that we stumble often. James 3:2. He sees our hearts and hears our thoughts. He sees us through and through. Jesus had no need of anyone telling him about man. He knew us and what is in us. Yet, he poured out his love generously and without measure on us. I am saying, God's love is unconditional. It doesn't depend on what you are bringing to the table or what you have been taking away. He loves you. And if he loves you, you can be sure he cleanses you from all unrighteousness, and covers a multitude of sins. That's why we can say, 'I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus'. We are simply trusting the love of God. That's why we can say, 'as he is, so are we. When he appears, we shall be exactly as he is.' And I hear someone saying, 'can you a mere man inherit things like this?' And I have to tell him, 'exactly what the Spirit of God says. He asks, "what is man that you are mindful of him?" He has searched the heart of God and he tells us the answer, "man is the beloved of God." The Holy Spirit keeps on revealing those things God has prepared for the man whom he loves. It's so sad that there are people out there who hear the word of God and harden their hearts. But I know, God loves me. He said so, I believe him, and I enjoy his glory upon my life. Christians everywhere need to know and esteem this love of God greatly. It is not enough that God loves us. We must believe in that love.
We must make ourselves available to be loved by God. Just as some couples are too busy to express love to each other, some believers have got so worked up that they are not available to receive the love of God. It shouldn't be. Imagine that when the king called for Mordecai, the man replied, 'my lord, I am just your servant, sitting at your gate. Please, let me continue there. I have your work at hand to do. I am sorry I can't go on parade with you.' What do you think would happen? The king would get angry. 'What does he mean? That I'm not good enough for him or what?' Remember Vashti. She got dropped off. Galatians 5:4 warns us of becoming so worked up that we fall from God's grace. It's good to work. We are made to do good works. But first, we are made for the love of God. When I see a Christian who moves about with a conscience of sin and who holds on to it, I see someone who is too worked up and is not receiving the love of God. Jesus said, 'come to me, you who labor and are burdened heavily. And I will give you rest. Learn of me, for I meek and lowly. My yoke is easy and my burden is light.' So I know it is easy and interesting to serve the Lord. How could Paul call his afflictions, 'light afflictions'? How could he be singing in prison? How could Peter be sleeping so soundly when he was to be killed the next day? What was John looking for in the spirit after he had been banished? These men knew the love of God. They received it. They relied on it. So they were able to share that same unquenching love with others. If you experience God's love you won't find it hard to share it with others and be full of joy and peace. Are you feeling grumpy right now? Are you under fire over an issue? Does it look like you are at your wit's end? Simply take a dip into the love of God. Meditate on his love. Read about it. Believe it, say it. And you would see the difference. God loves you. And if you would keep this word in you, you will have all of eternity to bask in the glory of the Lord.
